Entering Durban

Durban is the largest city in the Province of KwaZulu – Natal and the principal port for general cargo and containers in South Africa.

The port was constructed on a low area at the mouth of two rivers – Mhlatuzana River and Umbilo River. It consists of an almost land-locked sheltered harbor entered via a single channel, marked by buoys.

Entering the port of Balboa, Panama

Balboa lies at the head of the Gulf of Panama. It forms the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal and provides major port services.

Balboa Harbour is approached through a dredged channel about 4 ½ miles in length, entered at No1 and No2 Light buoys, about 1 mile South of Isla Flamenco. The dredged channel is protected on the NE by a causeway joining to the mainland a group of islands that lie parallel to the channel, of which Isla Flamenco is the outermost.

Brest Maneuver

Brest is a major French naval base as well as an important commercial, repair and fishing port. Rade Abri and Port Militaire, together with Port de Commerce close East, lie on the North side of  Rade de Brest. The harbour is protected by breakwaters.
