Can you go anywhere around the vessel?

A voyage on a port container vessel offers you a lot more freedom than one on a cruiser and this can be one of the main reasons for which you chose this kind of travelling. You can go almost anywhere you want around the vessel – as long as you do not interfere with the crew’s work – and the most important thing that you have to take into account is your own safety.

Oliver came on board HS Bach in Bremerhaven, in August last year. The minute he arrived in the Ship’s office with his backpack and his blue eyes, a little shy, but very alert and eager to start his adventure, I understood he was for the first time on a vessel. I was a little amazed by his very young age and curious to find out the reasons for which he chose to travel on a container vessel.
